Advice with some wiring please

I’m trying to finish my skip find guitar build and the wiring is being a bit of a PITA the neck pickup has only 1 wire coming off it and it’s too sort to put the bare wire to ground on the pot and the hot to the switch, so I’m thinking of unsoldering the original wire and put 2 separate wires on instead which should be fine and easy enough to do

The main problem is the humbucker the wire is a 4 core wired in parallel and that wire is a bit too short to split them so I’m thinking of changing the wiring to series instead so if I understand how it works then this is how I’m going to do it

solder a new wire to the north + to use as the hot and then solder a new wire to the south - for the ground, then solder a wire between the north - and the south+ then just wire it up to the switch and ground as normal

Is that the correct way to do it??.........🤞
