I've done this a few time with Steinberger-type cricket bat basses. Even then, one time it was handed back to me and I discovered that the D-Drop tuning screw was bent up and unusable. Obviously, some privileged silly billy had shoved his executive luggage down the side of it. I can only hope that it scuffed his leather accessories.
