Rhythm Stick tab (Ian Dury)

Recommended Posts

Anyone got a good one? Having heard Brother Jones play a cracking version on my 'ray t'other day, I'm itching to give it a go
Thanks
Chris

I don't have a tab, but because of the number of requests Norman recorded his bassline for us all to download and copy. It must therefore be the 'definitive' version. 99% of tabs I've seen are wrong.

Thanks mate. Slight problem though - when I open the page I just get a black screen with 'Norman Plays Rhythm Stick' in the corner and no sound. Am I being stupid?

I found this one quite useful too. Still struggle to nail it consistently at full tilt though!

I'd love to give it a go - used to read when I played cello but that was about 30 years ago :)

Chris, a switched on BassChatter has suggested posting the transcription here for all to have a go at. Guess what.... it includes the tab. I didn't spot that as I was reading the dots.

Thanks so much everyone, what a comprehensive multimedia response, probably enough material above to write a PhD thesis on the bassline in question :)

Actually, its thanks to you guys, without whom (plus checking out how people actually play the line on you tube) i wouldn't have this at all!

Why on earth in A flat? I haven't tried this (yet), but surely A, with those lovely open strings, would have been easier.

Cheers for the transcription posting.

Just found a couple of things on it that might be worth pointing out...

in bar 2 after the F to Ab hammer on the Bb hammers on to C before the Eb staccato sixteenths.

Anyone else hear this?
