Squier Jazz

The neck on my CV Squier P bass is fantastic. It's shallow, fret ends are smooth and polished and I can get lovely low action on it. Which is more than I can say for the neck on the Fender Elite Precision I bought last year,  for silly money.

I've also owned a MIJ Silver Squier Jazz bass. It was also a fine instrument.

huge output even when passive - they come up for sale on here occasionally - no longer made but the copyrights and patterns and equipment were all bought by hotrod pickups who continue making exact same item but under new brand name - currently have a set in a vmJ fretless along with one of John K1iogons passive control plates

Do you know which hot rod ones are the same as the ones you have? The 64, 74 or 84 ones?

My go-to gigging bass is a Squier Classic Vibe P bass - one of the early ones
The neck is superb. Of course, matters such as dimensions; depth, width, radius are all subject to personal preference
But I like the C shape of the neck - the fact that it's not overly chunky, or too slim (somewhere in between)

As others have said, it's a lovely finish to the edges and frets too. The stock pickup sounds superb.
I had a CV Precision in Fiesta Red, and foolishly sold that. Which is a move I am now regretting.... even though I already have too many

Keep an eye out for one of the earlier ones, second-hand on here
But also try the new CV range, and the VM series too - especially as you liked the one you tried

What versions and what pups did you change to. ? if you don't mind me asking

Dave

I’ve got a Squier affinity p bass with a late 70’s dimarzio.

a Squier Pete Wentz with a Creamery solo 14

and a Squier standard pj with Herrick pups.

The higher spec Squiers stock pickups are decent straight out of the box.
