70s Precision pick up issue

So I've got this 72 Precision. It's sounding really thin, like there's no bass at all, especially compared to my other precisions. I'm assuming it's a pickup issue?  Tapping all the pole pieces with a screwdriver when it's plugged in gives a tinny sound form both halves of the split coil. I started off by thinking one half of the pickup had given up but I wouldn't get any sound would I? 

Is this a pickup or wiring issue? Wiring looks fine and in good nick.

Sounds like a loose wire/connection somewhere. Check every solder joint.

When you tap the poles with a screwdriver on your other basses, do they sound 'tinny' also?

Reverse polarity on one of the split coil by simply inverting the two wires. It sounds like they are out of phase.
