Weird string question

Coudln't think where else to put this as it's quite the weird question: anyone else ever find that, when they pluck, their fingers get caught on the string? As if the string was really dry and hard to play? Maybe I need to change my strings. Or get new fingers (they aren't sticky or covered in dirt or whatever)

Little nephew/niece/son/daughter/brother/sister with sticky fingers?

Reminds me of the joke about the man who goes to the doctor complaining that his penis has turned orange. After running a load of tests, the doctor is out of ideas, so asks the man what he does for a living. Nothing, says the man, just spend all day eating wotsits and watching porn.

I would suggest that it's your fingers that are the problem, not the strings.

Next time this happens, put the tiniest smear of Vaseline on your fingertips. if this cures the problem, you've found what was causing the problem.

And if you're worried about your strings getting greasy because of the Vaseline, just give them a wipe with a dry cloth afterwards.

Or possibly they are are counterfeit, many brands are faked and the fakes are sometimes coated with unpleasant and (I think) dangerous substances. Last time I was with the luthier who sets up my instruments he was telling me all about this very subject but I can’t remember very much of what he said apart from some fake strings having iffy gunk on them. I seem to remember him saying something about the fakes emanating from China.
