Bass, not just guitars

I'm not sure whether you're being serious or facetious. There may be no mention, at this moment, of that particular power amp you name, but sure as hell the Amps And Cabs section is all about rigs? Different rigs - if you search a bit, you'll find debates, controversy, fanbois and fangirls of certain amp or cab makers, all kinds of info about new and vintage models... you name it. And there's also the EUB Double Bass section with its own ecosystem that includes specialised rigs. 😉🙃

Talkbass has more stuff like that .

When I was looking up Crest CA9's , before I bought one , Talkbass had far more stuff , than Basschat .

It's a much larger site , so to be expected ; but with stuff like that , there's more bassists into heavy iron amps etc , in the States , than over here in Blighty .

I just do a Google search on stuff , and it often leads you to bass sites , just take your pick , they'll all give you something .

Cheers, guess I need to find a pro audio type forum to chat about bass in that respect.

The pro audio sites often look for slightly different things .

Case in point - when I was researching the CA9 (loved in the States , but not so much here) , the only negative talk about it , was that it was underpowered . Maybe if you're building a massive theatre installation , but for bass , even in massive rooms , it's a beast

TBPH when I first came to BassChat I was astonished by the rather narrow focus on bass guitars, bass amps and double basses.

Where was the tuba section? What did the forum have against alpenhorns? Why nothing about those big f*ck-off church bells that go Bong rather than Bing?

I was so disappointed I never came back.

Should there be a section on this forum that isn’t just focused on bass guitar stuff?

More rig orientated? Different cab design, drivers, crossovers etc

Scoops v folded horns?

All bassy topics.

As others have said, there's a bunch of rig-oriented stuff in the Gear section but if the stuff you're looking for isn't discussed then you can always start a new discussion and see if the Basschat hive mind is able to contribute. If there's enough common interest, it'll grow and eventually get its own section - if it's too niche for the general populace then it'll fade into nothing.

What about those giant Spanish (or Mexican) guitars, that are like massive Spanish guitars?

I saw a film once (or an advert), where this like Mexican band wearing sombreros were working a restaurant, going from table to table playing... there was about five of them fellas, and one had a much bigger guitar than the others - so I figured it was a kind of bass... do we have a section for that?

No?

Disgusting is what I call it.

Not a Crown Macrotech in site!

Funnily enough I play bass guitar and use a Crown power amp...

But having gone to Markbass speakers for lightness (the band just never seem to be around when my gear goes in or out!) it seemed wise to not buy a Macrotech, but an XLS.

Not only can I lift it with one hand, but it still pumps out 1550 good 'ol Yankee watts.

So my back's happy, and my drummer and guitarist are easily silenced!

I first came to the Basschat site in 1974, looking forward to chatting about bass and the like.

I was very disappointed, as people weren't discussing bass, but some weird guitar things.

Not a single mention of the best bait to use, or most common habitat of the bass.

Disgusting really - I shall be contacting advertising standards.

Yours disappointedly,

Tarquinne De Pfeffel-Smythe (BrGen [ret.]).

I have a Crown XLS, but not sure it's 'Yankee' - think mine's made in China...😄

When you Google Basschat the 1st result has the tagline "The biggest and best forum for bass players in the UK and Europe! " so signing up and expecting the forum to be about broadly reproducing a certain frequency spectrum is possibly a little naive. You're probably better served with Bill Fitzmaurice's forum (Bill also posts here from time to time mainly on technical stuff, as far as I know he hasn't posted a picture of his cat in Off Topic yet):
