Warwick Thumb NT 5 Custom 2003 [FS/FT] £1800

Hiya

Rather sadly I'm just not playing my Warwick basses anymore so I think it's time they found a new home, so here's my 2003 Custom Thumb NT 5.

I bought this bass nearly new quite a few years ago now, it's spent more of that time tucked away in it's case than it should have so it's still looking pretty good - there's a handful of tiny dings here and there, I can try and get pics if you want but most of them aren't noticeable unless you're looking for them (if you see what I mean).

Custom options wise it's an ovangkol body with an ebony fretboard and a 3 band eq, I had the Dunlop recessed straplocks fitted by the Bass Centre in London where I bought it (if anyone knows Jimmy who used to work there it was him who commissioned the build and sold it to me). Comes with a very solid Warwick flight case and truss rod tool, and of course the straplocks to go with the recessed buttons.

Apart from that it's a Warwick Thumb Bass, pretty distinctive sound and looks, what else do you need to know?

Seriously though, don't be shy with any questions or corrections if you know Warwick basses better then me, I'm asking £1800 (was £2000) but as you'd expect the price is negotiable.

I'll consider trades plus cash either way, I'd be interested in;

Exotic woods/finishes/body shapes on basses, Warwicks with the pre '00s neck profile, Status, Dingwall, something unusual - 5 stringers only. Darkglass heads, barefaced cabs, maybe a Line 6 Helix.

Cheers!

Don't all NT Thumbs have 3 band EQs?

Another custom option would be the brass JAN I.

Great looking bass. NT Thumbs have a piano like clarity that only my Ritter Roya can match. They also have one of the tightest Bs in the game!

I think you're right about the 3 band eq actually, wasn't 100% sure but wanted to mention that it was a 3 band rather than the 2.

No older ones have 2 band. I have two ‘89 Thumbs both 2 band.

Good knowledge!

If you like Thumbs they are one of a kind and you can’t go wrong with them. Been gigging a Thumb since ‘97

Hi, interested in your thumb. Do you have any Warwick documents saying the bass is a custom build? I know a lot of warwicks have a custom stamp where the serial numbers are. Thanks Brian

Hi Brian! I'll have a look and see for you, but I don't remember having anything like that. I did message Warwick asking them to confirm the specs a couple of weeks ago and haven't heard back so I'll chase that up too.

I've been told there's a few (but not many) Ovangkol Thumb NTs out there, but as far as I know they've never been off the shelf with that body wood.

Cheers!

I am selling (or trading) this beautiful Warwick because i use my Fender Jazz more often and it's a pity that she isn't being played...I've got the bass from a fellow member, the old topic is still there.
Serial number is 067, with EMG pickups, cherry body, a 5-piece neck with wengé and cherry, rosewood fretboard with neck through contruction, schaller bridge and tuners.
The bass is 100% original and plays like butter (trussrod is also working), but had a neck/headstock repair. As was mentioned in the previous topic, they did a great job.
Very light weight! Only 3,8 kg.
The bass comes with a hardcase (with one missing lock).
Looking for cash, but a trade is also welcome: only 4-string. Note that i live in Germany, but i can manage a lot:p
Please feel free to ask any questions regarding this bass. I am asking £1100 pounds or €1250 euro's.

      Hi folks!
This bass is just incredible, probably my favourite ever, but I've had a bit of a change of direction and it needs a new home.
This was my second sandberg custom build, built around 2013/14. It's very lightweight and ergonomic, very balanced tonally, versatile, and features that incredible sandberg neck feel! I upgraded to a swamp ash body which not only looks stunning (pics don't do it justice!), but it's incredibly lightweight at around 3.7kg, and it works exceptionally tone - wise with the maple fretboard. I also upgraded to a 3 band eq (these models normally come with 2 band). The natural headstock was also an upgrade, as these would come with a black one as standard. It is actually a veneer with a black accent layer in between.
      Specs :
Swamp ash body with matt cherry sunburst finish
      Maple neck and fretboard
      Natural headstock
      Black hardware
      2x dual coil soapbars
3 band Glockenklang eq with true passive bypass and passive tone control
      Comes with original sandberg gigbag

There are a couple of very minor dings in the body, I can attempt to photograph these if you like.

No trades sorry. If you're nearby, you're more than welcome to come and try!

      Thanks for looking! 😊👍

      Hi folks!
Tis with a heavy heart I am advertising my first Sandberg custom build! This incredible bass was built for me in 2011/12 from memory, and has served me well. The ebony fretboard was a substantial upcharge, but is by far the nicest I've ever played.
Really comfortable to play, very balanced across the tonal spectrum, hugely versatile, and of course THAT sandberg neck feel!
      Specs:
Alder body with virgin white high gloss finish
      Maple neck, ebony fretboard
      Matched headstock
Sandberg power humbuckers x2 with coil split switch (outer coils)
3 band Glockenklang eq with true passive bypass and passive tone control
      Comes with original sandberg gigbag

Not looking for any trades sorry. Welcome to come and try it out if you're in the area 😊👍
      Thanks for looking!
