[SOLD] MTD Kingston Super 5
£750
London

Price dropped to £600 as I have my eye on something else! Trade value remains at £750 though.

A somewhat reluctant sale. There’s a reason you don’t see these for sale often!

This is a bit of a tone chameleon - 2 big MM style humbuckers, independently switchable between series, parallel and single coil. 3 band EQ and an asymmetric neck profile which is incredibly comfortable. 35” scale. 19mm string spacing at the bridge. Weighs 4.2kg / 9lbs 4oz

In very good condition, though has some slight tarnishing to the top of the bridge & knobs, and a few light surface scratches which I’ve tried to photograph.

Collection/meet up in and around London preferred, though I may be willing to travel a bit further for the right deal. I’ve also now sourced a good quality gig bag and box for shipping, so that’s an option too.

Wow, never seen one of these before!!

That's a lot of pick up action.. 😊

I used to have a couple of MTD basses back in the day and they were two of the most comfortable 5 string basses to play that I've ever had.

Super lightweight too and sounded great..

Lovely. What would the weight and string spacing be on this beauty?

It’s quite light but I’ll need to weigh it properly to be certain. Will get back to you on that - my scales need new batteries! String spacing is 19mm.

If I didn't have five, I'd jump at this... Beautiful bass, and way-cool pick-up mojo there...

Oodles of bass for the money. Is it 35" and Buzzy Feiten intonation?

You know you want to ;)

To answer your questions, yes to all of the above. It plays so well but I’ve become a bit of a P and J convert in the past year or so. Though it should be noted that with the coil switching, putting both pups in single coil mode basically gives you a Jazz bass anyway!

Oh man, this is beautiful! I'm not normally a fan of maple fretboards on basses, but I'm making an exception for this beauty! I hope this sells soon for you, so I can stop gawping at it :)

Ha! Feel free to keep gawping! PM me if you have a deal in mind ;)

Unfortunately the only thing I could offer would be my Fender Jazz V MIM, and I feel that would be a big step down for you! :P

8 hours ago, Badgerbass said:Hi 🙂 Is this still available?  If so, the surface scratches you mention, are they just the ones in image of the top horn / shoulder?  Are there others?

Hello! Yes, the bass is still available, however I’m currently away from home on tour. I haven’t played the bass since the above photos were taken so what you see in the images is exactly the condition the bass is in. The surface scratches on the top horn are the most severe on the instrument - there are probably a few lighter ones elsewhere on the rear of the bass (unavoidable on a satin finish to be fair) but they are very hard to see. They certainly aren’t visible in the photos I’ve taken! I’d need quite specific lighting and a higher quality camera than the one on my iPhone for them to show up.
