The line from steppen Wolfs born to be wild....

”I like smokin’ lighting” (heavy metal thunder)

always intrigued me...

Isn't it smoke and lightning? :scratch_one-s_head:

I like this from Devin Townsend - Disruptr

Somebody get me alone, I need to feel at home
I need a brain massage
Somebody get me a doctor, I ain't feelin' ill
...But I ain't feelin' this at all.

And this from Twelve Foot Ninja - Adios

You're out of control,
You've been warming your hands,
On the bridges you're burning,

Apparently the lyrics to Procal Harum's A Whiter Shade of Pale have a meaning........

We skipped the light fandango
Turned cartwheels 'cross the floor
I was feeling kind a seasick
But the crowd called out for more
The room was humming harder
As the ceiling flew away
When we called out for another drink
The waiter brought a tray

And so it was that later
As the miller told his tale
That her face, at first just ghostly,
Turned a whiter shade of pale.

It's good but lacks the prosaic gravity of

'All we hear is Radio Ga Ga, Radio Goo Goo, Radio Ga Ga'

Some things in life are bad,
They can really make you mad.
Other things just make you swear and curse.
When you're chewing on life's gristle,
Don't grumble, give a whistle!
And this'll help things turn out for the best
And
Always look on the bright side of life!
Always look on the bright side of life
If life seems jolly rotten,
There's something you've forgotten!
And that's to laugh and smile and dance and sing,
When you're feeling in the dumps,
Don't be silly chumps,
Just purse your lips and whistle -- that's the thing!
And always look on the bright side of life
Come on!
Always look on the bright side of life
For life is quite absurd,
And death's the final word.
You must always face the curtain with a bow!
Forget about your sin -- give the audience a grin,
Enjoy it, it's the last chance anyhow!
So always look on the bright side of death!
Just before you draw your terminal breath.
Life's a piece of stinky poo,
When you look at it.
Life's a laugh and death's a joke, it's true,
You'll see it's all a show,
Keep 'em laughing as you go.
Just remember that the last laugh is on you!
And always look on the bright side of life

They shoot without shame, in the name of a piece of dirt
For a change of accent, or the colour of your shirt
Better the pride that resides in a citizen of the world,
Than the pride that divides when a colourful rag is unfurled.

"My old man stuffed 17 candles up a poor slut's butt. Well done, dad"

Not saying they're my favourite lyrics, but it was a bit of an eye-opener the first time I listened to Freak Kitchen's 'Porno Daddy. 🙉

"Ten years ago, on a cold dark night
Someone was killed, 'neath the town hall light
There were few at the scene, but they all agreed
That the slayer who ran, looked a lot like me
The judge said son, what is your alibi
If you were somewhere else, then you won't have to die
I spoke not a word, thou it meant my life
For I'd been in the arms of my best friend's wife"

Long Black veil, Johnny cash (might not be him who wrote it, I'm not sure)

At eleven years old, bored witless one long summer holiday I put on a Johnny Cash album just to see... Then I wanted to play an instrument and write songs.
Ok, I work in an accountancy company now, but I really like music.

The Chieftains did a version of that with Mick Jagger IIRC

On the National Express there's a jolly hostess selling crisps and tea
She'll provide you with drinks and theatrical winks for a sky-high fee
Mini-skirts were in style when she danced down the aisle back in '63
But it's hard to get by when your árse is the size of a small country

"Johnny used to work after school at the cinema show

Gotta hustle if he wants an education, he's got a long way to go.

Now he's out on the streets all day selling crack to the people who pay,

Got an AK47 for his best friend, business the American way."

(Empire by Queensryche. Brutal and honest.)

Most of John Cooper Clarke’s output springs to mind. In a (really) good way.

Not really random but I never tire of hearing the lyrics to the chorus of Bowie’s Drive-In Saturday.

“His name was always Buddy

And he’d shrug and ask to stay.

She’d sigh like Twig the Wonder Kid

And turn her face away.

She’s uncertain if she likes him

But she knows she really loves him.

It’s a crash course for the ravers

It’s a drive-in Saturday...”

Also love Jagger’’s “My best friend, he shoots water rats, and feeds them to his geese” line in Live With Me.

That’s just the way it goes
“Cheer up you f £$%^g ’ b%^$&d!”
That’s all I heard him say

Nina Simone - Don't let me be Misunderstood.

All of it.

Baby, you understand me now?
If sometimes you see that I'm mad
Don'tcha know that no one alive can always be an angel?
When everything goes wrong, you see some bad
But oh, I'm just a soul whose intentions are good
Oh Lord, please don't let me be misunderstood
You know sometimes, baby I'm so carefree
Oh, with a joy that's hard to hide
And then sometimes again it seems that all I have is worry
And then you're bound to see my other side
But I'm just a soul whose intentions are good
Oh Lord, please don't let me be misunderstood
If I seem edgy
I want you to know
I never mean to take it out on you
Life has its problems
And I get more than my share
But that's me one thing I never mean to do
'Cause I love you
Oh, baby, I'm just human
Don't you know I have faults like anyone?
Sometimes I find myself alone regretting some little foolish thing
Some simple thing that I've done
'Cause I'm just a soul whose intentions are good
Oh Lord, please don't let me be misunderstood
Don't let me be misunderstood
I try so hard so please don't let me be misunderstood
No, no, no, please

Newtown Neurotics featuring Attila the Stockbroker - Andy is a Corporatist

Mindless violence is a newspaper phrase
It's an excuse to vandalise a human frame
What a clever little gang can attack a single man
And then run into the night before you've seen what you'd done
Yes, you ran into the night before you'd seen what you'd done
Mindless cowards 'cause that's what you are

Andy is a corporatist
He is corpulent, and often whizzed
And he is friends with Flemish Nazis
Goes to Hitler's birthday parties
Seven times a year

I met him at the 100 Club
He was there on business
But he couldn't start a riot
So he stayed kinda quiet
And The Business didn't play
So Andy went away
I met him in Birmingham the day the stinky poo really hit the fan
The fan was me and the stinky poo was Andy
Dexey's concert, really handy
Broken nose, really dandy

Andy thinks it's such a laugh
To sing Horst Wessel in the bath
Smash up other people's fun
Make page 20 of the Sun
But I knew his time would come

Andy's mate came up today
Told me he'd been put away
'Stupid nutter, anyway!' That's all he said, then turned away
'What a waste!', that's all I'd say
'Maybe he'll change, somehow, someday'

A year of life went down the drain
Then they let Andy out again
The guys inside had changed his mind
He'd left his Nazi past behind
One day I met him in the pub
He'd finished with the killing club
He said he had to watch his face
'Cause you don't leave the master race'

Now Andy and his local crew
Stand firm against the chosen few
He's playing in a rebel band
To spread the word across the land
And sometimes in a whizzed-up haze
He talks about the bad old days
And here's his message, loud and clear

'We'll never let it happen here!'
'You Nazi skinheads ought to know
That you would be the first to go
'Cause what they want is serried ranks
Unsmiling clones in Chieftain tanks
No room for music, punk or skin
They'll bring the goosestep marches in
And take our football and our bands
Smash our guitars and break our hands
So no more crap about coloured skin
'Cause unity is the way to win
And what our Andy says is true
Stand firm, don't let them hoodwink you

Mindless violence
Mindless violence
Mindless violence
Mindless violence
Mindless violence, who is to blame?
Mindless violence
