Thanks for the replies. Are these things you use yourselves?

Kind of. I'm a photographer so I have stands already. Amazon sell the holder to fit on the light stand which ends up basically the same as the second option. I tend to use a clamp attached to the mic stand as it's one less stand in small spaces.

Thanks. I’m just a bit wary of the reliability of Amazon reviews 😁.

I’ve got a Hercules bass stand, I guess it’ll work attached to the bass stand?

Not the ones I linked they go on lighting stands or tripods you'd need one designed to clamp to the stand not screw in the top. I have indeed used a bass stand to clamp a tablet holder.

You can use this type of music stand and cut down the top to a more suitable size

https://www.amazon.co.uk/Tiger-Orchestral-Conductors-Adjustable-Music/dp/B002GOHCTA

Its a more agricultural approach than the clips, but wont fall to pieces or need replacing with a different model if you change your tablet/case.

Worth looking around if you go this route as these type of stands can be picked up for as little at £10 new from some of the big music etailers, and even less used.

I use the Hercules one that has dual fixings to either clamp into the side of a mic stand or onto the top of one if you aren't using a mic.  Fits a range of sizes.

Is it made of plastic or metal?

I have had two of these (one in each size) and as yet they have proved durable:

VonHaus Tablet Mount Clamp... https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B00N7FR3AK?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share

The larger model fits my iPad Pro 10.5 with a leather case on and the smaller version fitted my old iPad Mini also with its case on.

hopefully this is the link for the smaller version:

VonHaus Black Mount Clamp for... https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B00N7G4YQ0?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share

I prefer using these rather than taking a whole stand as I can either clamp it to a Mic stand or fix it to my little stand that holds my IEM mixer etc.

Plastic.

Edit - well the screw and nut it threads into for the side clamp are metal but the rest is plastic.

With the environment in mind I like to travel by train where at all possible. Im I’m hoping that whatever I get will just clamp onto my bass stand, save carrying too much about. They look great thanks.
