Plus was that with the leather and walnut it really did feel like driving a tiny Jag / Roller - minus points were too numerous to list, not least the hydrolastic suspension regularly leaking out so you'd come back to your parked car to find it listing to one side, looking at you like a sad but ugly dog. Back to the OP - I know nothing at all about Mr Hall, but have owned 4 Rics (only one now, but a keeper - a '72/73 FG 4001). No, Harley is not a good comparison. Despite the basic configuration of the engine not changing (erm apart from the V Rod and the Street Rod), Harley have done loads of stuff, but they do it in a way that to the casual observer you’d not notice. if Harley were running Rickenbacket they’d have solved the bridge, but it would be able to palm mute, look the same and sound exactly the same. prowla Posted May 11, 2019 Share Posted May 11, 2019 (edited) As far as car parallels go, I would suggest the Rickenbacker bass is like a Lotus, in that they hit on a winning formula and have kept that DNA in the product throughout their history and have not bowed to pressure to conform with other brands. They're difficult to get into for some and the ride can be a bit hard, but by heck in their element they are fun! You’ve even got to take the cover off to enjoy it at its best.
