Updated attendance list below.

Just as an aside, so as to take up a bit of the day, would anyone like to see another bass shoot-off?  I suspect Gary and I will be a little smoother than last year; maybe utilising a wireless might make things quicker in the changeover.  I know we had a huge variety of basses last year, maybe if we rein that number in to ten we could just do Precision Basses or something?

I think it was planned for at least the last bash but is there any scope/interest in having full band environment to hear different basses or rigs in a real life scenario?

One of my biggest challenges in finding a rig is what works on its own doesn’t always translate to a band environment.

I also appreciate its very much subjective and dependant on much more than equipment but a real-life test environment might be a bit of fun and helpful for others?

What do you think?

I'm up for this idea @rodfunnell

Will have a chat with others involved to see what's possible /doable.. But any ideas or suggestions here would be great too.

In regards to another bass shoot out....I'd like to see a blind folded seminar where attendees get to play a number of basses of varying value to see if they can distinguish between low end/mid-rage/high end basses. After my recent adventure collecting a £200 Yamaha for another BCer I'm pretty sure that most won't be able to.

A friend of mine bought a guitar on this basis - expensive Gibson LP -v- budget copy - he claims that he actually preferred the cheaper model which is why he bought that instead of the Gibson.

How about a 'Valve vs Class D' blind test? I'd be happy to throw my SWR in! :)

@ChunkyMunky - we did that last year in fact..

Ended up being as inconclusive as a series of UK parliamentary indicative votes!

Happy to do a Version 2.0 though if there's any interest in the idea..

What about a blind P bass copy test to see what sounds best... Limelight, Lull, Harley Benton, Squier, Maruswotsit or kosher Am Standard and what their price point turns out to be?

We did that at the first Herts Bash...some very interesting results...
