Songs that you thought were about one thing but turned out to be about something else.

Most songs by AC/DC...

I disagree. Most people would assume "Big Balls" is quite unambiguously referring to the size of Bon' Scott's testicles, whereas if you read the lyrics carefully, it's actually a celebration of joyous high society occasions involving revelry and dancing. :)

Err... exactlerly my point, just as 'Sink the Pink' is clearly about snooker whatever smutty minds think 🙂

How about the song in this advert from the 1980s?

Bet I'm not the only person who fell off their chair ROTFLMAO the first time they saw this on TV...

Funky riff too, transcribed for Bass 🙂

Mylo's Drop The Pressure contains a quite clear sample of Motherf*ckers Gonna Drop The Pressure, and was played to death in the day.

I have often listened to this and thought am I hearing this right. I’m not sure if it’s  f*ckers or something else. Can’t believe they let that one go. It repeats endlessly!

Contrary to popular belief  Elvis Costello's Pump It Up isn't about  certain advice to lonely men and their 'partners'

Is it not about his well known love of cycling and the often needed roadside repairs?

Without my walking stick, I'd go insane
I can't look my best, I feel undressed without my cane
Must have my walking stick 'cause it may rain
When it pours, can't be outdoors without my cane

If I ever left my house without my walking stick
Well, it would be something I could never explain
Oh, the thing that makes me click on lover's lane
Would go for naught if I were caught without my cane

Be, bop, bop, de, la, dum, be, bop, a, da, bum
Re, bop, be, a, rop, a, de, bop
Rump, a, de, dum, ra, da, da, de

Re, bop, bop, la, da, dum, re, bop, be, de, a
Rop, a, de, bum, rop, a, de, bum
Deet, de, de, a, ra, da, da, dum

If I ever left my house without my walking stick
Well, it would be something I could never explain
Oh, the thing that makes me click on lovers lane
Would go for naught if I were caught without my cane

Louis had served his time learning his craft working in a resident band on a steam powered paddleship up and down the Mississippi .

Imagine this song in the context of a bar band on a Hamburg to Amsterdam ferry  Or Steely Dan .

:secret:

The Ellington tune Satin Doll might refer to gin - which was illegal during the Prohibition , but I suspect Louis was just singing a pop song about 'caine here.
