GAS Attack

I'm thinking of sell a couple of basses and a Strat to raise money to purchase something that I want but will end up selling after not using it for years. WTF is the matter with me. I recently bought a 500w Ashdown 2x 12 because I wanted one and I haven't gigged for nearly 20 years. I think I need  Basschat Detox.

OK, I'll try. You say you have to sell things (which presumably you like/value) to be able to afford said new toy. If you can afford to buy something with your own money, go for it, but it appears you can't. is there any chance you will make a profit on the new item (is it something vintage/desirable) when you sell it? Do you have other priorities that you need to spend money on? Do your kids need new shoes? Is your car in need of repair/replacement? Is there a hole in your roof? Do you have debts (not a mortgage, obviously, but plastic, etc) that cost you money/interest each month?

Only if you are all clear of the foregoing and have money burning a hole in your pocket are you allowed to make the purchase. Fair enough?

Dan Dare. It's jus a hole burning in my soul to buy new shinny stuff that I don't need but want.

I know that feeling all too well. Suffered from it for ages. The odd thing is, now I'm in my dotage, with mortgage paid, kids off my hands, money in the bank, etc, the affliction has gone. Now I can actually afford the stuff I used to lust over, I can't be bothered with it.

I have the same thing, but it's true that stuff doesn't make you a better bass player, a better person, or happier.

Still, stuff is nice ;)

I recognise the symptoms and am trying to detox myself. At the moment I've instituted a one-in, one-out policy. So i can't buy the Barefaced One10 i crave until I've sold my fender 410. And then I'll try and move to a one-in, two-out policy and see if I can cull the herd a bit.

Maybe a support group on here? One without Cato's "help"?

Sounds good to me. Maybe Cato needs to wear a support with all the bollox he's coming out with., :)

None intended Cato.

Yup, just buy buy buy, wrap in plastic, stick it in the loft. Take it down when you fancy a look and wonder why you bought it

And then years later, after having never used it, you can sell it on eBay , listing it as a bargain , never used , as new!
