New Yamaha Nathan East signature

Dazed

It is growing on me the more I see it but something about a headless, 6 string bass that doesn't seem very 'Yamaha' or 'Nathan East' to me 😅

Downfall for me, would be the price tag. His BB is already £3k+... So unless is going to be a ridiculously cheap Japanese bass or something, it's probably something that's a one off.

Hell of a good video though 😉👌🏻 what a guy.

So fugly. Great player though, obviously. The design and weight don't seem to make much sense to me but hey, I don't have to play it. Guesses on price? £4k I reckon.......

The design and weight make some sense.. my experiences with headless basses (Status Streamline and Hohner B2A) suggest that some mass is desirable in terms of tone (they were obviously too light)

The original Steinbergers were much heavier and sound better to my ears.

None of the ultra minimalist designs are as good when seated as a regular bass.

Yours gets me every time. That in 32” scale and 16mm spacing would rock!

Awwww that'd be pretty nice! This one is 16.5mm spacing and we were careful not to get that ‘thing’ with some headless basses where the end of the neck is a little further away than a standard ‘headed’ bass. So I think you’ll probably find the 34” scale here pretty spot on.

I think it's pretty cool, personally - also don't think 10lbs (4.5kg) is THAT bad, for a six string. It probably 'wears' really well (for Nathan, at least). Good for him for getting something a bit out of the ordinary. FWIW I think headless basses look much better with a futuristic body style like this.
