The BlazerRay... Now finished!

I was going through some old pics on my phone and found these I'd sent to the previous owner, didn't realise I had them with the original bass intact....

It shows what can be achieved with a little thought and a suitable donor bass.  I think you did well to keep it simple yet dependable.  I wish you many years of happy use from it.

Nice sentiment, thanks very much @SpondonBassed 😉

My wife said last week - 'so what's happening with that, are you selling it now it's finished? You've got loads now...'

Honestly man, women... 😆

Without wanting to stereotype anyone... how is she for shoes?  Not that I'd dare use it as a counter argument of course, just curious.

Headstock decal was provided by Rob at www.guitardecals.co.uk

After being quoted £57 by Rothko & Frost for my 'complex design' request I found this guy on ebay who did me two waterslide transfers for less than £10. Great bloke to deal with, and got my decal exactly as I wanted it - recommended 😎

+1 on this!  Great find and link, @BassTool ! :)

Best decals I've ever used, including white ones, and ridiculously good value for 3 of each of two designs at £15 total.  Wow - they are super, super, super thin.  Never come across anything like it.

Good comms with Rob and fast turnaround too.

Oh my!!! I've actually shown @Andyjr1515 something he didn't know on this forum!!! 🤣 Haha glad you like his work Andy, I had to hunt around eleswhere after the shock I got from the frankly ridiculous R&F quote..

Rob was brilliant, I sent him pics of what I wanted and he delivered big style IMO. Great service, and for me, not one but two decals in case I messed up, both for under a tenner. I told him I'd recommend him on here and he was chuffed to bits.

Glad you're impressed Andy  ;)

I enjoyed reading each of the 9 pages 😊

Nice one @Obra, you must have had time to kill, I thought this thread was dead and buried quite some time ago 🤣

Pleased to report back that this still gets played regularly, and sits in the corner of our living room.  ;)

Jeezo John that was an incredible journey.

I don't usually follow these posts mainly because i'm not good at joinery or woodwork repairs but that was one of the most informative and interesting threads in many a year.

Can't believe the difference between Pre & Post. Brilliant job.

Also not a huge fan of the MM style basses but that is simply stunning.

I now have to go back and read Micks build thread.

Thanks for the PM and link to it.

Very impressed. What we need now is some sound clips or Vids of the bass being played.

Even from a distance it looks sweet.

Quick update 😝

Three years to the day I completed this bass 😲 I'm pleased to say it'll actually be getting a chance to be played in front of an audience at some point during this coming year - Putin permitting 🤬- instead of being picked up and played in the living room 🙄😖

Since retiring two years back, I've persuaded three old bandmates to have one last hoorah, resurrecting a band the four of us were once in.

We played our final gig on March 1st 2000, 22 years ago. 😊

Looking forward to finally gigging the BlazerRay after completing it 3 years back, I'm also pleased to say its still in one piece and hasn't split..

👍🏼 😀
