I knew what you meant and was just returning the shorter "cheers" or "health" version as a courtesy but i believe you are correct that slainte mhaith does mean Slange Var as most people pronounce it. I really hope to remedy this and make some more visits in the next few years. I'll raise a glass to my Scottish cousins tonight. They are a bugger to tune to, we have to be 1/4 step down and even then it depends on how warned up his pipes are - could be great, could be awful. Another for your feed....
