Dingwall - unidentified feature

I’m sure I read somewhere that it was there as an alternative position to sit the bass more to the right when playing so that the first few frets felt closer and less of a stretch. Obviously they couldn’t put a regular strap button there, so it seems quite sensible.

That’s exactly it.

Two of my Dingwalls are outfitted with this additional strap button. I like it and only use those instead of the normal ones. The difference isn't huge, but noticeable and makes reaching the lower notes with my short arms just a bit more comfortable. So it's a useful feature in my eyes, at least for me. :)
