P/ MM Pickup Positions (measuring tape required)

Just wondering if any of you folks who own a Precision or a Stingray could measure the distance from the 12th fret to the centre point of the pickup for me please?

If you’ve got a Jazz (I know they vary), could you do the same on both pickups, and let me know what model it is?

Ta’

I'm a bit OCD about measurements and suchlike and it just so happens I have a spreadsheet of pickup position data (attached for info)

Pickup position.xlsx

Oh wow. That’s amazing. What a resource. Great work!

I’m obsessive too man. I get it 🏆

Also, I’ll measure up my Aria SB’s if you want that data for the spreadsheet?

Question asked was P/MM pickup positions.  Your input is where ?

Do you want a handbag match?

OP asked Precision and Stingray positions.

It was answered on the next one very well, so I didn't get my ruler out.

Some people don't realise the MM on J/MM and P/MM basses is *not* at the Stingray position. That's my input. Now go do one.

To reiterate what @mcnach was saying - the stingray sound requires a mm pickup in the exact place that Leo put it.

Put it there and it sounds like a stingray. If you compare with a Lakland or Sandberg who use the J/MM setup quite a lot their bridge pickup sounds like a fatter jazz sound rather than a stingray sound.

This is correct and to answer the OP the bridge pick up (centre) on a Stingray is 13 1/2" from the 12th fret wire (see the bass plus tape measure posted in post 4 above).

I believe this is the MM position the OP was after rather than some other manufacturer's interpretation.

The measurement in the spreadsheet is for an SR5 but is still 13 1/2".
