I had the original big battalion for a short while. Decent sounding with a passive P bass, not so much with an active J. Am sure of you want it as a drive for a passive bass it will sound great, I personally couldn't get on with the bass soul food but the Batallion drive was a lot more bass appropriate for me (my playing, my kit) so am sure it would do a decent job for you.

What would you say is better for full on overdrive - the Battalion or B3K?

Its horses for courses really 🤷‍♂️. Im not found of either type circuit full on (like a rat or muff for that).

Both would need some blend at full tilt. The Ehx would cut better in the mix maxed but the B3k has a better sound.

Ha, ironic but I think the Rat and Muff are a bit poo when trying to cut through. The fact that you need a blend pedal to make them work highlights the issue!
