I started playing string bass in junior high, learning from a great teacher who's now teaching in South Africa. I wish I'd practiced more when I had him as a mentor but I was young and stupid. I've been playing off and on since then from garage rock bands to jazz combos. I've just gotten into a fun project with piano, percussion, and a great female vocalist so I am starting to think about refining my sound. I have a 70s fretless P-bass that I've had since high school and haven't changed strings for 25 years since I've always liked the sound and have no idea where I got those strings now and thinking about upgrading my amp if things continue to go well.
