Velcro! Which Way Round?

Hey guys,

 

Is there a consensus? I'd always applied the hook to the board, and the loop to the pedals, that way when one takes a pedal off a board and uses it on it's own the pedal doesn't pick up all the rubbish in the velcro and ruin the carpet. That seemed to make sense to me and for many years there was joy. Nowadays, with the advent of the internet, camera phones, 'show your board' threads and the BC marketplace, it seems as though most people prefer the hook on the pedal. Am I missing something?

I also started doing the same as you and Jack, but it seemed all the pedals I bought used had the velcro the other way around with the (hard) hooks on the bottom and a Pedaltrain PT2 I just bought from the FS was topped the (soft) loop, so I've kinda now gone with the flow. 

But I agree if you have the soft loop on the bottom of your pedals it doesn't pick up crap, nor scratch surfaces. Makes much better sense

However VHS won the day over Betamax. And some folk still don't rate Yamaha BBs...😂

True... the crap ends up stuck to the much larger surface area of your pedalboard instead 🧐

This is why i looped the board and hooked the pedals

If you hook the pedals they can also grip carpet.

Try it with hook on the top, then if you don't like it, turn your board over and try it the other way round. If you don't like it that way, it's easier to change back..... If you DO prefer it, you should probably give up pedals.

If you have a Diego board, it comes with carpet on the board. So the hook goes on the pedals.

Same here with a Palmer Pedalbay - board is ready carpeted, so the hooked tape supplied goes on the pedals.

I put the hook side on the pedals.  My Diago board is covered in loop inside.

The first cheapo pedal case I bought was lined with loop so there was only one way to go.

I'm firmly in the loop on the board camp. Otherwise your pedal board will constantly pick up all kinds of crap. (and I don't mean cheap Chinese pedals)

Hook on the board, soft loop bit on pedals. Don’t know why I do it that way around. Possibly cause for what ever reason I had more of the one than the other ?!?!?! 😜😂🤪

Don't think I've ever seen a board that comes pre loaded with anything but the loop side.

fluffy stuff on the board, pointy stuff on the pedals.

I find doing it the other way around makes the board catch serious amounts of labrador hair.

Fluffy on the board, scratchy on the pedals. Increases the amount of heft considerably.

Fluffy stuff on the board seems to be the winner. Never really thought about it until now. I cable tie mine as well

This thread is proof that being in the majority of a vote doesn't necessarily make something the correct choice.
