Thanks a lot oZZma!

Now I need to find an excuse for the missus 😆!

you're welcome :)

Rákóczi út is one of the oldest roads in Budapest and it's near the Jewish quarter, which is a quite cool and lively place to bring your lady for a walk: lots of small handcraft shops and pubs/restaurants/coffee shops

Highly recommended in the nearby: THIS! https://www.tripadvisor.it/Attraction_Review-g274887-d668397-Reviews-Szimpla_Kert-Budapest_Central_Hungary.html

Also in the same quarter: Elektrotechnikai Múzeum. I liked it a lot, but it's definitely not for everyone. You need to be curious\enthusiast about old machines and devices to enjoy it.

Thanks for that one SH73! Had it on my list also. 👍

I only dragged my missus in as I spotted it walking by. She enjoyed the air conditioning as it was 35 degrees C outside.

The shop appeared well stocked, lots of pedals and other gear. Not sure how prices compare with UK or Thomanm.

Not guitar-shop related but music related, I highly recommend to check out for traditional folk/gipsy records because they are so good you could not believe It... Melodies are so strange and dissonant, really interesting! Muszikás or Szebestyen Márta are really good, some tunes features an almost  John Cale-like violin playing :D

Also, Illés and Bródy János are really good, they wrote a rock opera about the Country's origins that Is worth listening

The first staging, with english subtitles:

Synopsis: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/István,_a_király

I loved this record, as a little girl... especially the hard rock and folk tunes!

Unfortunately prices are slightly above Thomann's... A long time ago, under communism, you could buy for a very small price in comparison with western countries but now they are totally aligned with any other country in EU. Except salaries, which are very low 🙄

Explore the whole area around Szimpla, there are a lot of similar bars in that district and they’re all great. If you have time, go to one of the natural spring baths, they’re amazing, especially when it’s cold outside.

Do drink Palinka, but don’t drink Unicum.
