Orange Bouncer Bass 1x15 1971

I recently acquired an Orange Bouncer Bass 1x15 from 1971 off eBay. It’s been modified in its past. The angled batten to the front inside edge has been removed at some point and then painted black. Thanks presume it’s bee part of an install as the back was still orange.

Id bought the Tolex but it’s sat for a couple of months then last week I decided to buy the new corners, piping and timber and made a start. The Tolex came off without any problems whatsoever, nice large strips.

Today I’ve added the timber profiles to the front and done some filling of that but the cabs had a lot of damage and will need a second fill all over to get it ready for the Tolex. The badge had also been painted black but came up ok with a soak in warm soapy water and an attack with a nail brush. 04CDDCE3-A184-4432-9D2D-1F2AD3D7A9D0.thumb.jpeg.c08847dbcdfd11faf04a07506fb10694.jpeg

Been there, done that to my head amp, looking good and an interesting  cab to boot, AND, a guard dog too  !

The Tolex is the easy part 😄 This is my eleventh or twelfth re Tolex. The prep and repair is the part I  don’t like.

The dog is a terrified Elvis really loving but absolutely no use as a guard dog  😄

I really like your (actually 1973) bouncer Bass cabinet project!   I wanted one of these when i was 16 years old!   The plan has always been to run my rickenbackwer (no V-63 re issue wired in now stereo)  to use3 this as the Bottom with (Now) Orange Terror 500.  and a 100 watt guitar amp for the "top end"     Neat to watch your restoration!

Apologies for the lack of updates on the restoration. I actually finished it last year and sold it on. The tolex wasn’t a great job as it puckered in a couple of places. It looked a lot better than it was but not my best restoration.

Hi Cdavid,

Wow!   certainly a lot of work!   I figure that cabinet to be a 73' based on catalog pictures ( and  my own) 73" cab.   sure wish there were more of these to be found on our shores!   Most of the Orange stuff seems to be in the U.S. midwest and east coast.   got Mine from Canada through a crazy auction!   seems like the younger bassists, simply didn't know what it was!   so there were no bids on ebay!   I contacted the seller and swung a deal for the original starting bid price.   wish i coiuld find just one more 1973 bouncer here in the u.s.   they are NOT popular, as they are (to my thinking And ear)  just strictly a Low end cabinet.  so. definitely a dissapointment as a single cab for bassists.   Perfect... for "Rickenbacker guy's like me" who wish to run stereo, and this....for the low end.
