Well isn't this a thing of beauty?!

£2000 but now a laaawdy-isn't-this-tempting £1700

Classy vintage 1975 Fender Jazz with some legitimately tasty roadworn-ness as you can see, most actually from the original owner in the 70s as I've treated this like a dream!

Sounds and plays incredibly schmoooth but after owning this for a looooong time it's not getting enough play time compared to the other bass fam so I've come to the realisation that this can't become an expensive ornament and needs to find a glorious new home.

Missing the pickup covers and thumb rest (it came to me without these 😭) and the original bridge has been replaced with a Schaller bridge at some point, but otherwise all original, serial number and 137 pots date this to mid-1975, along with the classic J.Torres stamped neck.

No case as the non-original one it came with gave up the ghost a while back so as such it's collection only from SW London - or we can arrange a classic Basschat meet-halfway-in-a-train-station-car-park - and you can take it away in a rockbag gig bag for safe carrying.

I'll throw in the top of the line Maruszczyk 3" leather strap pictured here too.

Boom!

I bet it sounds warm and buttery!!

Only thing is that Schaller bridge seems a bit fishy: I may be wrong, but are you sure about its originality? Anyway, nice specimen, GLWTS.

I'd actually never noticed this before (!) but you are definitely right! Thanks for the eagle eyes.

Bought this from a friend's father a good many moons ago who was the original owner so defo not fishy, just seemingly never mentioned  and never had cause to question it until now - some photos of the bass in action back in the 80s for legit-ness sake: https://www.discogs.com/artist/1787899-Y-Trwynau-Coch | http://link2wales.co.uk/2013/crudblog/band-profile-trwynau-coch

Much appreciate the spot though so amended the post subject and body accordingly.

I am told that Huw Chiswell (the keyboard player in that band) is somewhat famous within Wales.

"Y Trwynau Coch" = "The Red Noses", BTW.

😂 Only just seen this!!

One of the greatest Basschat responses!

Excellent work.

Shamelessly stolen from The Fast Show I’m afraid, simply was not a product of my fevered genius

There's something unusual in this bass, having a three-bolt neck plate it should have a bullet truss rod on the headstock but from what I saw in your pictures it doesn't have it.
Does it have the truss rod at the neck heel? And have you ever removed the neck to check the stamp on the heel?

Truss rod at the neck heel, stamp on the heel sadly indecipherable for numbers, but neck has the round QC stamp (again hard to read, but it's there) and 'J. Torres' which ties it to the right era.
