Fender stylee 'Threaded' bridge saddles ??

Does anybody know what benefit, if any, this type of saddle is supposed to confer on an instrument or is it just a period look thing ?

Personally I don't get the slavish bbot bridge thing - it was just cheap simple and and pretty effective and still used for those reasons but some modern bridges are better from a number of standpoints be it adjustability, ease of loading, stability, sustain, balance of instrument etc...

You can also alter your string spacing 😀
