Newtone Diamond Nickel Roundcore vs DR Sunbeams

I've found the Newtones to be familiar enough, but much better.

The feel, tension, flexibility is similar, and the sound can be similar too, however I think the Newtones are a little hotter than the Sun Beams, but if you play gentle you get that round Sun Beam tone. I think they're probably more versatile as a result.

Durability wise, the Newtones are far superior, they last and last, plus any problems, they are based in the UK and are great folks to deal with.

I had SO many dud Sun Beams in packs I bought direct from the US that I just stopped using them. The QC at DR took a real turn for the worst a while back, but in a way I'm glad as I might not have ended up with Newtones :)

I wholeheartedly recommend you give them a go.

I used to use DR a lot as well as Roto and Elixir. I found consistency with DR to be a massive issue. If you haven't used Newtone yet, I guarantee you'll love them. I use them for all my rounds now over various gauges and, until using them, didn't realise how much a string can make a difference. I'm now a Newtone endorsee and don't use anything else.

I agree after 25 years of using DR I'm fed up of paying daft money to get strings thst are dead in the pack!! My emails to the company were ignored as well 😠

It's a shame because I keep trying different strings but go back to DR because I love the tone!! I might try some Newtones and hopefully like them while supporting a UK company 😁
