Just got this Spector Euro4 LE1979!
Although normally I don't play standard tuned 4 string basses much but the only one I had so far got quite a lot of playing time lately. It is another Spector, a Euro4 LE1977. I love that bass, the playability, the sound, the quality so I thought about getting its "sister", the other limited edition that commemorates Spector's early day and the releases of the two groundbreaking models, the NS-1 and the NS-2, originally released in 1977 and 1979 (hence the naming of these LE basses) These two limited editions were made in cca 50 pcs each in the Czech Republic and are somewhat rare birds so I'm happy to have both of them.
Pretty much what you see is what you get, walnut wings, 3 piece maple neck, rosewood board, DiMarzio P and J pickups and Spector's TonePump electronics. It is a light instrument and has a very sleek feel to it, balances perfectly and sounds immense. The quality is excellent as you can expect from Spector.
Now on to the pictures!
OH Nooo NOT Another Lochdown Bitsa
Well yes!!
Last week I was browsing on Flea Bay and noticed a parted-out Spector body for a very reasonable price. There were three bodies a lovely, figured maple sunburst, a nice but badly marked red burst and the black “Ice” body which I purchased. If I had been a little quicker I could have nabbed the maple sunburst but got the Black “Ice” seen below. I had a Mex Fender Bronco neck (quite old & never ever seen a Mex one before) which I got some years ago from a Parting-out specialist dealer in the USA. I had previously used the neck on short scale Bitsa PJ which wore a Mustang decal.
Following my purchase of a Harley Benton MM 84A SB (See Bitsa thread) I had spare a couple of ceramic, high output Roswell MFR4 N/B Pups, having swapped them out for luscious Warman MM Pups in my Stu Hamm Urge Ray.
I picked up a great value high mass 3D bridge on Amazon for an amazing £18 and I plan to use a @KiOgon loom to complete the Bitsa.
So, I am all set to do some routering, fettling and assembly to, hopefully create a nice sounding short scale Bitsa to add to the herd.
Just found out about a couple of new Korean Spector models for 2021. Nice new directions in frets/colours....

ONLY played this beauty 2 or 3 times and then put it away. Now lives in a hard case under the bed.
EMG SSD pickups, Tonepump Jr, bolt on neck, cherry gloss finish. Will consider including hard case.
This bass has some real cohones and cuts through the worst noise that your bandmates might make!
