An interesting.. oh never mind, I've done that to death - so, Fretless...

Mrs B has persuaded me to get a fretless to:

- Possibly play in the band

- Challenge myself musically

- Expand my horizons

I'm a 4'er exclusively so probably should be a 4

I'm a wuss and fancy lined - also I think they look good...

I like the idea of a non-PJ design to get away from that (I have tooo many P's)

I like my ACG Finn and love the natural wood look so that's probably a requirement

Budget is £2k tops but happy to spend less :)

Prefer used for more bang for buck, but can be new too

What would the collective recommend as possibles?

I wanted a fretless purely for recording purposes....it’s on one song on the new JoCee EP if you want to hear it:

I didn’t want to spend a lot of money as it’s such a small use-case for me. So I got a Bass Collection Jive fretless and it’s really bloody good for the money!

So unless you really want to spend a lot of money to then find out it’s not for you, check them out :)

Well if you like your Finn, why not a Finn?

EDIT: REALLY miss that bass, btw...

Yeah - a possible but I suspect a new one from Alan would blow my budget substantially. I do like ACG's and I'd have one in a heartbeat.

That Finn is now #1 gigging bass...!

Might be worth an email!

@Sibob you know how it is - Missus gives you permission to spend ££££ and you feel obliged..

I do just like posh expensive basses as well...

Well if you have to :D

The nicest fretless I ever played was a Zon 4 string at the old Bass Gear showroom. Don't know what happened to it, but whoever purchased it has an incredible bass!

If I had 2K to spend on a fretless, I'd be all over that Shuker Uberhorn in the for sale forum.

No affiliated with the seller, just think it looks sexy as f**k....

I've been ogling that for a bit I must admit.

My only concern is whether it's a bit too much "real man's bass" for my ham fisted playing.. specially with all that through neck extended fingerboard stuff going on!

You could go for the ACG Krell fretless in the classifieds and take a string off9_9

Lol - saw that too and thought about how well I would cope with fretless and 5's at the same time.

Conclusion was broadly somewhere between badly and utterly disastrously...

Being a fretless player, I would recommend you to try a Leduc, especially the U-Basse model or a Masterpiece.

This one was ordered new by a friend of mine who sold it only because he moved to 6 strings fretless (the actual owner bought it to that very friend) https://www.zikinf.com/annonces/dispannonce.php?annonce=1562755
