The  Squier Vintage Modified Telecaster Bass.

I found out about these basses after they'd been discontinued, so I never got to see one in a shop, let alone play one. I've always had a thing for tele body basses, and I've a plan to someday build a shortscale one.  These however are 32" so kinda medium scale.

I prefer the single pickup version, over the mudbucker/jazz config.

Has anyone played/owned/still own/modded one of these?  any opinions?  or pics?

They seem to be hard to find nowadays.

There is a thread on here somewhere about these. I have one. Some of the thread detailed re-wiring the neck pickup (series to parallel) to get rid of some of the mud on the two pickup version (mud + J), a useful mod. I had a single pup version for 3 days, when Thomann sent the wrong one! It was B stock, I got the replacement from a UK dealer.

I also re-wired the mult-way pickup switch, adding another volume knob, one for each pup.

Weight about half a kilo more than a P. Pity they went, not too many 32s about. Don't get on with 30s, just can't get strings that I like.

I haven't made any changes to mine and the 32" scale is a  pretty good half -way house between full and short scale. I think it sounds great with both pickups on full pelt.

The bass is really solid and the neck is really to my liking, smallish and fattish, and has a great feel to it. I haven't really used it that much but I do like it a lot.
