Still just the one Fender MIM P bass. Can't complain. I like the colour combo more everyday and I might grab some Model P pickups before our first post-covid band practice. I was close to buying a natural MIJ Jazz bass on bass direct this morning though... It was gone when I checked a few hours ago! Who bought it eh?

In order of acquisition, all totally different from each other:

Hohner Jazz bass, Korean (Cort), mid-80s. Now with my brother.

Hohner B2, Korean (Cort), mid-80s.

Maya Fretless Precision copy, Japan, Mid-70s

Fender Performer, Japan, C.1986

Squier Jaguar SS, Indonesia, 2018

Hohner Jack V Professional, Korean (Cort) date uncertain.

Westone Thunder-1, Japan (Matsumoto),  probably 1980s.

Squier Jazz, Korean, 2002

Tanglewood TAB-2 NAT Acoustic bass.

Fender Flea signature Jazz, Mexico,  2019

Harley Benton P-Bass (from a kit).

I'm the proud owner of 4 bass guitars (from Left to Right)

1)  Status Stealth II - 5 string  (Red tint and Red side LEDs)

2)  MIA Fender American Standard Precision  (the sticker on the scratch plates says 'Upgraded With Fender Custom Shop Pick-Ups')

3)  MIM Fender Precision

4)  Gibson Thunderbird (2015 model with Babicz bridge, and coil-tapped Hum-Buckers)

SAM_4752.thumb.JPG.8a772755ebc919c68071291795e15e0b.JPG

1) and 2):  Status and White P - These are my workhorse basses.

3) and 4):  Antigua P and Thunderbird - Way back in the late 60's I picked up copies of the Fender and Gibson catalogues from Hodges and Johnson's music shop in Queen Street, Colchester.  The catalogues showed a P bass in the Antigua finish and the Thunderbird range respectively - I never forgot those images and nearly 50 years later I finally have one of each.

And now 4 becomes 5 - with the sddition of a MapleGlo Rickenbacker 4003.

The first time I saw one of these live was a band called Stray at The Kings Head, Romford in 1969.  IIRC Gary Giles played a FireGlo Rickenbacker and unleashed a sublime solo in a song called "Move On".  I've still got my vinyl copy of Stray's 1970 debut album.

Next live sightings were Chris Squire's SnowGlo Rickenbacker in 1970 (Colchester Corn Exchange) and 1971 (Royal Albert Hall - support to Iron Butterfly).

3, and it will remain at 3 for a long time. I’d like it to be about 13,  but money, space and time will prevent that.

This...but with more than 3. Nevertheless, my basses and amps have always been funded from gigging earnings, and there won't be much of that coming in for a long time, so my GAS has been, for the medium term, suppressed. 😕

That's a lovely collection. I really like the Antigua burst Fenders, there were some lefties knocking about a few years back, hopefully they come back on the market when I've got the cash and the inclination.

Well... This was my family shot. 4x basses. New this year were the CIJ Jazz and the 1984 Aria...

However, I just didn't get on with the Aria. Its a very, very nice bass but for a single pickup bass it didn't beat my Stingray so it went. And I acquired this lovely Warwick in its place and all is right with my (bass) world once more. And there are 4 different headstock/ tuner arrangements 😊👍

Chris Squire’s main bass wasn’t Snowglo. It was cream, as refinished by Sam Li. Sorry.

FWIW Snowglo is a custom colour. All the old white basses were simply white, not that his was.

Thanks for the info 4000 - I stand corrected.  Happy to acknowledge my mistake.

2 less than i had at the start of the month. It feels liberating having less choice.

Ever thought of moving to Belarus? You'll get plenty less choice there 😁

Did someone previously mention that the perfect number of basses was nine? That works for me (again)!

Oooohhh thats one of those Norwegian winter snow basses. Might have been better taking the pic indoors tho :laugh1:

Dave

Yeah, I thought I ordered the INVINCIBLE bass, but auto-correct won.
(Seriously though, it's a phase. I fully intend to buy a bass again.)

So 10, if you don't count the two that don't count.

Not too bad, I've usually had more.

Hmm, 4 more since then.

Peavey Fury

Guild B-301.

Hohner B2B is for sale.  Considering letting the Danelectro go, too.
