Another one turned up just before the lockdown. It's too many, but I have a good excuse for each.

Passive fretless Jazz, active fretless Jazz, upright Warwick DB thingy. 3 different beasts, no excuse needed.

I'm the proud owner of 4 bass guitars (from Left to Right)

1)  Status Stealth II - 5 string  (Red tint and Red side LEDs)

2)  MIA Fender American Standard Precision  (the sticker on the scratch plates says 'Upgraded With Fender Custom Shop Pick-Ups')

3)  MIM Fender Precision

4)  Gibson Thunderbird (2015 model with Babicz bridge, and coil-tapped Hum-Buckers)

SAM_4752.thumb.JPG.8a772755ebc919c68071291795e15e0b.JPG

1) and 2):  Status and White P - These are my workhorse basses.

3) and 4):  Antigua P and Thunderbird - Way back in the late 60's I picked up copies of the Fender and Gibson catalogues from Hodges and Johnson's music shop in Queen Street, Colchester.  The catalogues showed a P bass in the Antigua finish and the Thunderbird range respectively - I never forgot those images and nearly 50 years later I finally have one of each.

Hah, it's a Fender Flea Active Pink Shell :)

Really, a wonderful bass, especially for the price I paid! (I had it on discount)

Love that Antigua P mate! Hope you are staying well 😃👍🏻 If it ever needs a new home, just shout!

My stable is currently:

- Jazz Bass with flats

- Jazz Bass with rounds

- Precision Bass with flats

- P/J Fretless bass with rounds

I’m really happy that I have most sounds covered with the above. Come to think of it, I’m probably sitting at the lowest number of basses I’ve ever owned at one time. Perhaps room for one or two more :)

Don’t think I ever posted a family photo of my haul... I only ever got round to taking one a few months ago, after meaning to for years.

The Westone basses are lovely looking instruments.

They look like this wonderful combination of Alembic, BC Rich and Aria Pro II.

I want them all ! I love BC RIch Basses the Mockingbird and the Eagle 😊😁

Welcome 🙂 What a beautiful pair of Jazz basses.

Dont hang around here too long. You’ll end up buying loads of “essential” gear you didn’t previously know existed, discover that all your current gear is too heavy, and find yourself in heated debate about things that aren’t real like “Heft”... 😐

Here are a couple stock phrases that will stand you in good stead and save time if you copy and paste them into a handy file upfront 👍

“It’s all in the fingers” - used in reply to any suggestion that different basses / amps are capable of affecting tone in any way whatsoever.

”Jaco only needed 4 strings” - Useful in reply to any topic regarding a bass with 5 or more strings 👍  This is especially poignant as it’s widely known that all bass players want to sound and play exactly like Jaco.

“It’s one of the good ones” - Used when selling a Fender bass from the 70s to assure a buyer this particular instrument was on the right side of Fenders notoriously iffy QC at the time... Although as every bass sold on BC seems to be “one of the good ones” I’m not sure where this accusation comes from 🤔

Anyway just a few pointers 🙂

... oh and if you discover which bass is best for metal can you let the rest of us know so we can finally close the site down and get back to whatever it was we were all doing before. 🎸 🤘

Welcome to BC.

Gorgeous basses. Liking the white with maple neck and white pearl markers. Not seen many like that.

I tried TB but found it quite an aggressive site and every post seems to get criticised by someone for the silliest things. Stopped using it. Basschat is now a far more friendly place since our current mods keep a good grip on things. I find BC like a huge big family of good friends ..........most of the time. :D Lots of valuable advice for anything in life and always lots of people able to offer some words of encouragement.  Hopefully you'll think the same.👍

Looking at your BC name @Nickoreed and your signature pic are you related to Lou Reed or just a fan.?

Dave
