Thinning down the herd, so selling the basses I don't use.

FOR SALE ONLY.

Quite rare STATUS Electro 4 lined fretless with bridge pickup added by SP Custom.

The specifications :

34 inches scale.

24 positions, original lined fretless (no front dots).

1.5 mm action under the G string up to 2 mm under the E string.

18 mm strings spacing at the Status Electro bridge.

11 mm at the graphite nut.

1 double action truss rod.

4 Gotoh tuners.

Woven graphite neck with black phenolic fingerboard.

1 Status Hyperactive humbucker in neck position + 1 SP Custom Smokey HBass Classic humbucker close to the bridge (very similar sound wise to the Status Hyperactive) + 1 piezo pickup under the saddle in the bridge with magnetic pickups volume, piezo volume, treble cut/boost and bass cut/boost (like on all Electro series) plus a 3 positions toggle switch for the magnetic pickups (neck, both, bridge) instead of the EQ bypass.

18 Volts preamp with new batteries.

The body of the Electro 4 has a two-piece mahogany back with a red coloured veneer and book-matched rosewood top. Acoustic chambers are machined into the mahogany before the top is glued on : this allows the body to resonate and create a warmer, more "open" response. The graphite neck produces great sustain and clarity and results in an incredibly versatile instrument with great character.

Weight : 4.4 kilos.

Delivered in original Status/Hiscox hard case with all the accessories and original invoice.

Equipped with new Status round wound strings (45 ~105).

Satin finish for the body and thick glossy finish for the neck.

Made in April 2010.

Set up by Christophe LEDUC.

Official price today will be more than £2000 GBP if you can get one made.

Asking price is £1200 GBP due to the rarity and good very condition of this bass.

The bridge pickup has been installed by SP Custom, which is a well known French maker and the work is perfect (the idea was to add a lot of versatility and to employ the useless EQ bypass as a 3 positions toggle switch for the, now, 2 magnetic pickups).

The pictures to see the real condition, which shows only some very little wear with one "knock" on the headstock near the E tuner :

Even after all these years I still can't get my head round headed Status basses - they just look weird....O.o

Headless bass is part of what status is all about right Mick? Quite agree,  I can’t get on with headless basses, so if I had a status, I’d go with a neck like this...

Just as written above in the ad, so no great changes, but way much more versatility.  B|

It's not that heavy if you take some facts into account : graphite neck, standard machine heads, 2 humbuckers, 2 batteries and a quite thick mahogany body with a thick rosewood top.

That said, it's only slightly chambered (not hollow) under the "f" hole...
