In the unlikely event you're feeling horny and don't know where to go for help, may I recommend Nigel McGill's Sax School.  Not as astonishingly amazing as SBL, but competent and very very helpful for about the same money as Scott's academy.

Just checked - £179 per year is a bit more than I want to pay considering I'm just noodling in the key of C.

...but ...but.... £179's a steal if you want to stop noodling in the key of C! O.o

I keep thinking about this. My late dad was a saxophonist and inherited his wonderful 1937 Selmer Balanced Action tenor. It seems such a shame that it isn't being played.

Funnily enough, bass trainer Scott Devine has posted a seminar in which he frequently cross-references to the sax experience as a guide to bassists wanted to do improv up the top end.

Seeing as your horn seems to fetch up to € 5k, I should use it - if its usable.  Old instruments doesn't necessarily mean great to play.
