So the bulk of the weight is down to the solid maple body ?

Maples a fairly dense wood (Guess thats why they use it for necks). The weight of thge thing was the only reason I parted company with that VM Jazz.

Hmm I have a 5 string Streamer Stage 1 broadneck with a solid maple body and maple neck with neck thru construction. It has a solid brass bridge that weighs 1kg itself. The whole bass weighs weighs less than 4.6kg so im at a complete loss as to how this thing weighs anything approaching 14lbs...

Are those chambered? Friend has a nice Warwick proto type and that is semi hollow? That 4.6 kg is a solid 10lbs so 14lbs isnt too outrageous even if its a larger body (the Jazz's are quite sizeable, think mine was 12lb from memory)

No definitely not chambered. Just find it a real stretch for that 14lbs as mine is a large 5 string body and neck with the 20mm spacing and all the solid brass hardware etc.
