Barf Roco.

That rings a bell, I was in The Shout. Used to play The Powerhaus, Bull & Gate, Boston Arms, that circuit. Great times, from what I can remember of them.

At one stage I was the only member of my band that hadn't sh*t themself on stage.

Various stories involving food poisoning and / or nerves had laid low the other members at one time or another mid gig.

Just to clarify I still haven't sh*t myself on stage - I'm just not in the same band any more!

The band I was in a few years back had one big Wharfedale monitor for vocals at the front of the stage shared between us two singers.

I remember at a pub gig watching in slo mo as a very drunk, flirty woman shimmied across the area front of the stage, making eyes at us, and just toppled straight over the monitor, drink flying.

I last glimpsed her being escorted from the pub in tears by her friend. Oh dear.

Meant to be a summer gig in a marquee erected on a tennis court of a posh house.

Except it was pouring down and the paltry matting making up the marquee floor was awash with water, to the extent i ended up putting plug boards etc on the rubber mats from the car footwell.

It was freezing and blowing a gale too.

When we finished and loaded gear into car in the rain and dark, I noticed a) I had a flat tyre and b) there was a fresh pile of ripe dog sh*t right where I'd want to kneel to sort it out

Happy days.

Neither have I, but I have been sh*t on stage many times to make up for it. :D

The guy in the dark top? Underneath the falling PA? That would be me then ...

Same thing happened to me at a great pub in Cheadle Hulme called the John Millington which in local parochial colloquial terms is known as the John Milfington. One such lovely lady, a wee bit worse for wear on wine, shortly into our second set stumbled into the PA speaker which toppled over and narrowly missed me thankfully but landed on my bass guitar stand thus rendering it a bass guitar not-stand. Two songs earlier my rare Fender PB-551 had been on the said stand which would have been a disaster!

Not mine but this always make me laugh (from 1:10)

Ouch!!!

I had seen the 'event' but not what happened to the guitar. I was hoping it had survived with some severe 'relic' marks... but... it looks pretty dead to me :(

Early last year, penultimate song.

This is a 9-minute video. If you can't be arsed to watch it all, just watch the last 30 seconds ...

Done this one. Or rather was the bassist on the receiving end of it. I reacted pretty quick as I saw the speaker coming towards me, side stepped it and my tuner pedal took the brunt of it. Its got a nice dent in it now. Proper war wound. Offender carted off by doormen. Guitarist immediately came rushing over, bypassing me,  to make sure his PA cab was still ok. Understandably.

Back in the 00's when All-Bar-One used to do music.

No-one had heard from the vocalist for a few days. Half an hour before the gig the guitarist went to find him. When they arrived we were due on so they came straight on stage. Guitarist had a pale worried look, which gets worse as the vocalist starts to emit woeful high pitched shrieks. I move closer to vocalist aiming to indicate wtf? but am repulsed (in every sense of the word) by an odour with its own post code.

The short first set, continued thus, woeful wailing & the rest of the band trying to keep their distance from the vocalist, until vocalists Mother walked on stage, dragged him off and took him straight to a mental health facility.

Turns out in the days we hadn't heard from him, he'd scored a massive bag of weed, and had been doing nothing but smoking it since. Whether this directly caused the psychotic episode he was sectioned for we'll never know. No idea who called his Mum.

Wow - the ultimate humiliation - being pulled off stage by your Mum!

He's not a singer, he's just a very naughty boy..........etc.

Enjoying this thread! I've fallen off the edge stages (several), played while completely off my head on painkillers (prescribed, post-op), had the stage invaded by drunk punter who laid himself out cold after walking into something hard and heavy, had a bass amp fail on the first song (brand new amp, too!) and a bass damaged by falling  into the drum kit (both these happened on the same gig), played with former star singer so drunk she couldn't stand up without holding to things (mic stand, wall, guitarist), and I've had to dep for bass drum using my right foot keeping time stamping on the hollow wooden stage (while still playing bass) for an entire gig when the drummer was diverted to hospital on his way to the gig.

That's the last couple of years covered....

The only time I seriously thought I was in trouble was playing in quite a rough punk band in an even rougher pub in Glasgow. I had a Line6 something-or-other floor effects thing at the time (what was I thinking?). One big guy was spectacularly drunk and was jumping about all over the place narrowly missing my pedal board. Of course, eventually he did some massive jump in my direction and my instinctive reaction was to give him a big shove to save myself and my gear. The dude goes flying landing on his face in the middle of the room. To say he didn't see the funny side would be an understatement. He came back up swinging, threatening me with death and worse!! There's no escape route from the corner we are playing in. The only thing I can think is that I'm going to have to get my bass off, hit him with it and hope for the best. Anyway, it was not to be. Our crazy drummer saw all this. Launched himself right over the front of the kit. Straight past me and laid the guy out with one thump. I needed a bit of a sit down!

I really don't approve of violence O.o

I cant claim this story as my own, but it happened many years ago and the drummer in my old band was involved.

He was playing in a band with two brothers who sang and played guitar, a bit like the Everley Brothers and at some point pre gig they had fallen out. I think there was some alcohol involved but as the night went on, they started bickering about what to play until it got to the point where they were almost at each others throats. They both demanded that my old drummer count in and play the different song each brother wanted to play or he would be booted out of the band.

I believe the drummer walked off stage after they started fighting each other.

I was doing a run of Christmas gigs a year ago and as we got closer to Christmas day, the audiences who were out on Christmas parties got more out of control and drunk. During the last gig I see a couple of robust drunk individuals get more and more animated on the dance floor and get closer and closer to the band.

I was doing lead vocal and all of a sudden out of the dark, a lady comes flying towards me backwards. She hits the monitors, flies backwards over it and hits the floor hard. Her head then hits my mic stand, my nice robust Sennheiser mic hits me on my top lip and teeth, glances off my face and then hits the bass drum and cymbal and my mic flies out of the stand and lands in my drummers lap. I then have a bleeding swollen lip and dented microphone for the rest of the gig.

Luckily the lady was so completely hammered and she felt nothing, not even any embarrassment, so no real harm done, but it was pretty funny.

My fault entirely....

Way back in the 60s, at a pub in Nottm, we were using their PA, with what passed as a sound desk on the stage next to my drums.

Being a drummer, I had no idea how these worked, but the vocalist asked me to turn the whole thing up.

Right next to the desk, mounted on the wall, were the burglar alarm controls. The PA volume didn’t increase, but about ten minutes later, the boys in blue arrived........

We never played at that venue again, for some reason
