Is this the same bass?

one sold on eBay for about £500,

one was up for sale for about £750

now this one

ive never seen a mm jap before

now in the space of a couple of months I see three

could be like buses

or it could all be the same bass

if it's the same bass why don't people keep it very long - what's wrong with it

I was involved in the original purchase (I was merely a collection to post on), and having owned a 94, 08, Classic 2014, 2eq 2014 and a bongo...I have to say this is a very good stingray.

It had every feature I want a stingray to have, played superbly (even with sh*t strings upon collection) and was a decent weight, mutes (like the 94 and classic) 3eq like the 08 and contoured.

I wish I’d had the money at the right time but I sell stingrays because no matter how I love the sound and feel, the pickup pole pieces and my playing position don’t mix.

Worth every penny of a grand - if you want a stingray with all the best bits. Anything less is a steal - someone I helped got an absolute steal originally and anything to do with better strings and a case and Pickguard options it’s real steal.

I know Tonci paid what he’s asking or thereabouts, so fair play to him.

Rest assured - this is an EBMM “greatest hits” bass.

Me neither. So is it a genuine MM Stingray or a copy?

Confused.

Cheaper for MM to ship parts to japan for basses to be made For domestic Japanese market.

think Sadowsky Metro, Fender Japan etc.

genuine MM. Made in Japan

I don't understand if it's so great why has it sold 3 times within a month?

I’m led to believe it goes as follows...

An ebayer had it for a number of years and by all accounts was skint. He listed it as collection only in Salford about 4 miles from me.

The Greek asked me if I could collect it - it eventually owed him the best part of £600 when I got it to him and we’d done all the shipping lark.

He loved it, and then his old blue/green kingbass came up for sale and sold it to put in the pot to buy that back...

he naturally gave me first refusal and at that moment in time I didn’t have the money - I’ve since sold gear and have bought something more suited to me (as I’ve said I’ve got a potted history with stingray pickups and my fingertips...) at the point where I had the funds - Tonci had already bought it anyhow and the Status I’ve bought will more than do me.

Tonci could need the money, might have bought it to try a stingray and doesn’t like the sound, might have a similar issue to me with pole pieces...I don’t know, that’s his shout. Not really my business - but I can at least give the explanation for 2 recent sellers.

It is a great bass - I’ve nothing to gain from saying this, just a helpful nod to anyone considering it from someone who sold musicman basses up until 4 years ago and has sold a lot of them.
