Quote

Guitar amp manufacturer Fender's recently-introduced Mustang GT 100 guitar amplifier can made to play whatever audio an attacker fancies, security researchers have discovered.

The amp allows Bluetooth connections, but without pairing security. Anyone within range could therefore "stream arbitrary audio to it and hijack your amp output"

Can the vulnerability be used to turn the guitarist down mid-gig?  If so, that's useful!

Having just read the article properly, yes! Not only can you stream audio to it but you can also push presets without authentication... You could switch on an octaver and turn them into a bassist!

Are people TOO LAZY to go beyond knee-jerk reactions and Luddite thinking..? Some, apparently, are TOO LAZY even to capitalise their sentences..! Just how LAZY can you get..? :|
(Apologies offered for the SHOUTING, but it really is a bit rich..! ¬¬ )

If you actually read the article, they say they have fixed the issue. Making this even less of a problem if indeed it ever were

To be fair, the original article didn't have the update saying that a software update would fix it.  I did read it.  But you're right, it's a non-issue now apart from the enduring ironic hope of wanting to turn the guitarist down without their knowledge/assent!

I always wondered about this with in ear monitors, could someone tune into the same frequency and share "The Birdy Song" with them midway through a song!

Yes - although it's more entertaining to hijack mics instead.
