But depending on what you're trying to do, I've had some success with rotary switches and small preset pots - albeit with less than ten positions. I was trying to get the best of both a pickup blend knob and a pickup selector switch. i.e. instant recall but with more options. IN theory, the same could be done for volume / tone. alembic1989 Posted January 31, 2018 Author Share Posted January 31, 2018 The reason I'm asking is that I have an instrument fitted with Alan Entwistles ATN system, and some of the pot settings are 7,8,9 (or other) on the pots..I wanted a neat accurate and quick way of dialling in those tones. If so I'd get in touch with the manufacturer of the guitar in question and ask them where they got them from. I know you've said that you want a potentiometer specifically, but with 10 detents there's not going to be a lot of room for positioning the wiper between the detents, so how about a 10 way rotary switch with resisters of the appropriate value soldered to each position? It's to replace 3 standard pots. The 10 way rotary switch is a good idea but I don't think it's going to be possible to get 3 10 way rotary switches and fix them to the scratch plate ..and also they would require me to re rout the control cavity.
