Sold: 1971 Fender Precision neck
£525

Recommended Posts

For sale:

Genuine 1971 Fender Precision neck with fretless rosewood fretboard.

The neck is in great condition, used but very neat.
Truss rod works in both ways.

Nut width is 41.3 mm,

Neck stamp says; 5 02 71

Comes including the original tuners and string tree.

I believe this neck was fretted original, the side dots are in the right position,

so it should be easy for a luthier to install frets again.

£525

Can be shipped save and secure for £20

My factory US precision fretless has side dots between the notes, bloody annoying to be honest, and there's a thread about it on somewhere. I think the upshot of that thread was that they make the necks, dots and all, and then a few of them are destined to be f/less. No idea if that was the case in '71 though, more your area of expertise WoT?

I would worry the same, sadly.  Radius looks a bit odd to me, too.

I wonder if you can re-board a neck.  Something I'm sure one of BC's ultra clever luthierie would know - just not something I'd thought about previously.

Or maybe just enjoy a fretless 1971 P neck!  Lovely grain on that Rosewood.
