***SOLD*** Fender / Shuker 70’s Precision - Rosewood / Natural
£500

Recommended Posts

So, I will regret this but as I’d mentioned in my basschat status pre-update, one or more of three basses have to go to because I can’t afford to cover bills and get a piece of equipment I need for my work.

Here we have a genuine Fender Japan non-export precision neck (which today would be known as an FSR equivalent) which is partnered with a Shuker premium Alder body. I specified a natural finish that looked like bare wood. It is rock solid but as a side effect is wonderfully resonant.

Hardware comes courtesy of Gotoh which naturally is the best I could get. The bass comes with two pickguards. An official Fender USA 3 ply with a ‘road worn’ finish and also a brown/red tortoise shell guard too also with a ‘weathered’ look.

The neck is wonderful and is a 70’s profile with a 40mm nut, so it’s a little wider than jazz but not as big as a precision. Perfect for smaller hands and those who don’t want chunky but do want the tone. Oh and I’m sorry, but these are finished to a much higher standard than a Mendel. Great edge and fretwork out of the box.

The Shuker body was made specifically for the bass and as you’d expect is flawless. If you want it done properly with the best woods it’s gonna cost ya but I will be offering this up at a substantial saving over buying new of course. Not surprisingly all the routes are lined so the cavities are protected from noise.

You’ll also get Dunlop strap buttons and a Fender Japan split coil pickup.

The bass plays very nicely though I’m yet to give it the time for a full set up. As with any bass you will want to do that at some point. So i’ve factored that in to the final price. I have tweaked the truss rod and it was stiff but the relief is spot on. (I like a fairly flat board!) Fret wear is practically zero.

A 70’s P without the weight issues. I’ll be very sad to see this go and maybe one or two others too :/

Collection of course is always wise but shipping is possible but this will be the full responsibility of the buyer to arrange including insurance and tracking. (This will be very easy due to my work).

Photographs to come soon.

I should also add that this picture shows the bass with a Dimarzio Will Power pickup in it, not the Fender as listed.

As a fender PB70 player (my main bass) I can testify to the loveliness of these necks!

I had to remove this from sale as I discovered that the truss rod creaks. It doesn't affect the playability of the bass and the relief I have checked over the last month or so, hasn't moved at all. However, given that I am aware that this could be of a concern to a would-be buyer, I've had to take the decision to drop the price of the bass to £440 collected.

      Hello all!
Up for sale is my recently acquired Japanese Fender Marcus Miller Jazz Bass in borderline mint condition. Like so many others before it, I just cannot wean myself off my Flea Bass, so this is too nice a bass to have sat around not being played.
Serial Number dates it to 2006-2008.
I'll have to find some scales to weigh it properly, but it's very lightweight for one of these. The other two I've played have been anchors. As a rough ballpark it feels like it weighs the same as my Flea, which is 8lbs 8oz.
2 band active EQ (with freshly installed battery) with active passive switch. Does the whole super jazz thing to a T, with a balls to the wall slap tone.
Frets are in great condition. Truss rod works. Set-up is low and buzz free.
Cosmetically it's superb for a 14 year old bass. There is one 'tiny' ding on the upper bout and some slight tarnishing on the tuners but nothing else to report.
Comes with a hardcase (in superb condition) and straplocks.
Only thing I would consider trade wise is a Warwick Thumb 4 with slight cash adjustment my way depending on condition.
As always with me, cash on collection only (sorry I won't post) or happy to meet up within a fairly large radius to myself here on the Warwickshire/Oxfordshire/Gloucestershire border, or even deliver for petrol costs.
No offers or lowballers please. I'm not in any kind of a rush to sell.
      Thanks for looking!
      Si.

      Hello!
Anyone got an Aerodyne Precision (not Jazz) gathering dust? Preferably red!
      Thanks!

Very original 1966 Fender Precision bass. Stripped and refinished at some point in the 70s, it was originally sunburst. Neck date is 5th October ’66, one of the last CBS transition basses (F stamp neck plate, but unstamped tuners).
Pickup has one grey bottom, one black bottom, pencil dated May ’67 which is a bit of an oddity, but not the first time i've heard of it. Scratch plate, pick ups, hardware are all original. Pots that came with the base were terrible 70s ones (likely changed when it was stripped) that I replaced with new, but correct CTS taper pots using the original cap.
The untouched, worn-back neck is the best I've ever played on a bass, as you'd expect from something that's been played for over 50 years. Small ding at the 12th fret which is unnoticeable when playing.
My number 1 bass, with unbeatable playability and tone. Repro bridge and pick up covers and fender hard case included. Sensible inquiries only. Collection only, located in Worcester. No trades. No international sales. Any questions or try outs or anything at all, don't hesitate to give me a shout. Cheers!
      Adam
