put the four back on and it came back out the strap

there you go,one status on the deck

the whole band just looked on in horror

me well that's another story

so gak for strap locks at the weekend

lesson learned,

will have the status checked this week

I can't remember how many times this MIJ Fender P has been dropped. Last time it was face down onto concrete.

A few dings, still plays like a champ.

When you constantly have to fend off amorous approaches from that invisible bear it is of little surprise that your Fender has kissed the deck on occasion.  Wink.

I like the way you've posted this as a lyric.

Sung as a blues I guess?

I use the schaller type on my Fenders mainly because that's what was on my Thumb bass and wanted to keep them all the same. Only prob with them is the Fenders tend to loosen the strap button and i need to regularly nip it tight a bit every few weeks.

I'd be horrified if i dropped my bass like that.

I have a Gibson Les Paul AFD Slash guitar (amongst others). It comes with Dunlop strap locks as standard. I've never been a fan. It came off the strap several times but each time I was playing and so caught it before it hit the deck.

But, one night (5 years ago) I strapped the guitar on, (I always gave the strap buttons a tug to make sure they were locked into place) I then bent over to pick something up and wham!! Les Paul face down on the deck. (A hard floor)

Now I've been gigging for 30 years now (actually since 1981) and I've been really lucky with stuff like this. I looked to the sky and decided not to get upset. After all, it's a piece of wood and Gibson headstocks are easy to repair and I have a spare with me.

I couldn't believe it, not only did it NOT break, it was still in tune.

Dunlop strap locks = not very good

Mine's strap snagged on the gig bag, pulled it towards the open side as I let go, and took a chip out of the neck on a statue's tit.

It's still an awesome bass, and I think the accident gave it a new kind of awesome. I'm not the original owner, but it's even more 'mine' now!

Mine is an old matrix and as such is a complete dog because it’s been through so many basschatters since it came out of Colchester and is covered in small bumps and lumps - in some ways I prefer this to a pristine top end status because I can use it as a working gigging bass without worrying about it unnecessarily
