So if I type a post where my BB tags are technically correct but don't give the result I was hoping for how can I edit them so that they do?

I know that now most software is so fully featured the only way the writers can justify upgrades is to make it easier to use for the technologically challenged, but it would be nice if the "power user" features could be retained. Besides IMO if someone really wants to be able to use a feature, they really ought to take the time to learn how to make it work for them.
