... and those of thousands more. :D

Including me. :) Our singer used to rave about him. Then again he didn't play guitar... and I did... ;)

In fairness, his acoustic work used to be ok back in the day.

Ralph McTell.

No, really: it seems everyone knows Streets of London, but a lot of people are very surprised when you point out that he had some exceptional acoustic fingerpicking skills. I'd like to present the jury with Exhibit A:

The world of blues fingerpicking (yes I know it's technically a rag but hey! who's counting?) is a closed door to most modern guitarists but there's some seriously good players out there. We're away for a few days ATM, but when I get back I'll dig some out.

Every Jazz Guitarist ever.

I always struggle with the underrated thing because it is inevitably subjective but there are a million Jazz guitarists who can outplay the more populist players yet remain obscure even amongst musicians. I am not going to list them as there are far too many.

to which you could add all the country / Nashville session players, bluegrass , steel string fingerstyle / folk and flamenco players all labouring in semi-obscurity.

Well look, Barking. We are following the advice of 'bassace', but believe me, we will eventually get around to all the country / Nashville session players, bluegrass, steel string fingerstyle / folk and flamenco players. Next up after that lot will be a selection of 'Dog & Duckers'. So Hang in there, it just takes time.
:D

[/quote]Loved the second one. Seven strings; dancing around the neck with your eyes closed - showing off IMO! ;) Brilliant.

Surely being underrated is more about what you play then what you can play. On this basis most jazz guitarists are not underrated because what they do play appeals to a small audience.
