New Retrovibe Bass Model

I'm being slightly vague here.

For the majority, what comes to mind when you think of Retrovibe?

The reason I ask is because the well loved Chowny have give YouTuber Davie504 his own signature model called the EVO "Retrovibe" http://www.notreble.com/buzz/2017/09/02/chowny-bass-announces-the-evo-davie504-signature-bass/

All well and good.

BUT

There is the already established Retrovibe brand that makes a bass that is exactly the same (albeit with a different headstock and pickguard) also called the EVO http://www.retrovibe.co.uk/

Now I could have missed something here and Chowny could have bought Retrovibe but it just seems a weird coincidence that two small UK brands have a model with the same name.

Yes, Chowny are also doing the short scale Scott Whitely basses too.
I don't know whether it's a "take over" as such - but perhaps the 3 small companies have decided to become one, larger company?
It would probably make more sense when it comes to manufacturing / ordering numbers of instruments from the factory where they're made

I've yet to play a Chowny or a Retrovibe. Folk who own Chowny basses seem to rate them quite highly.....
I'd like to hear what people think of Retrovibe basses though - some of their models look really good
I was quite tempted by the look of their earlier Rick-like bass, and sorely tempted by their Super-P bass, in sunburst...

HELLO! :)

I was summoned and I have appeared.

So Retrovibe and Chowny are working together in an official capacity. We were already using a lot of the same production facilities and working fairly closely together. So it made sense to combine it all.

This allows us to consolidate orders, shipping, manufacturing buying power and marketing, have a central UK contact for the factory etc. It's a growing enterprise and works very well for all of us.

So currently we make all the Retrovibe bass designs under license - and Retrovibe work with us like a sort of in-house design team. We still have our own models. And we also have Retrovibe models released under the banner of "Retrovibe by Chowny"

We have a similar arrangement with Scott Whitley to make the SWB basses under license.

Working together EVO has been redesigned and greatly improved. We have a version with Davie504 (linked above) and also an upgrade to the existing one here http://chownybass.co...t/evo-standard/ . Both of these feature the Retrovibe Stinger '77 Pre-Amp as standard.

All of us (Scott Whitley, David from Retrovibe and I) will all being going to NAMM together. Which will be a laugh :D

I hope that makes sense.
