Ashdown cabs (Again)

Hi chaps / chapettes

I havent bought an amp or a cabinet in a VERY long time (approx 8 years, I think) but my little 2x10 is dying, so of course GAS steps in and tells me I need a 4x10 to replace it.

I currently use a Trace 300w SMC (GP-7) going into the (dying....!) 2x10 and a big silly old Series 6 Trace cab with a 15 and a 10 in it. Trying to find Trace stuff to match it for aesthetic reasons with a limited budget is proving somewhat hard, but my eyes lit up when I saw the Ashdown section in the local shop. Under £250 for a 4x10 350w cab???

So my question is - what is wrong with these cabs to make them so damn cheap? And if they are good, and I get one, will it fit in with the rest of my gear in a happy cheery bassy way?

In reference to your actual question, ashdown stuff is decent, their MAG range is the cheaper version of the ABM stuff (as you probs know) so I presume you get what you pay for. I never really cared as long as it was loud enough

500 watt 2x10 neo driver fitted cab.

As Josh said the MAG are the economy Ashdown cabs, cheapers build materials and drivers. The ABMs use better woods and coverings, better drivers and are smaller. Also much lighter too when fitted with Superfly neo speakers

Thanks for the advice and shameless plugs guys (lol) - like I said more looking for a x10 now... damn you GAS.

Perhaps it might be worthwhile just hauling my bass and amp to the shop and giving it a blast...

if you want a 4x10 there were a couple for sale on here a few weeks ago.they were the abm cabs though not the mag.IMO the abm 4x10 is a very good cab and would sound nice with your trace head.

i played WaynePunkDudes old trace head (think it was GP7SM?) through my ashdown mag cabs and it sounded brilliant. probably (definately) not the best cabs ever built but they'll more than do the job.
