1963 Precision - Pre CBS beauty!

This is my 1963 Precision, I've had this now for a couple of years and have loved every minute of it. I'm selling it as I prefer jazz basses.

The basis absolutely all original to the screw. The only work that has been done to it is that the lower pickup has been rewound. This is because it went open circuit. This has been professionally done, and you wouldn't know unless a good honest seller like me told you.

L series neck plate and stamp - serial number: L19063.

As you can see it's in good, vintage condition. It's been played, but not abused. The finish has some play wear commensurate with age, but it's had a good life. Everything is up to scratch, and the truss rod has plenty of life left in it. In fact, it's almost flush with the heel (well made old basses these). Frets are fantastic and it plays well, no dead spots or problems all the way up its gorgeous rosewood board.

There is some shrinkage to the scratch plate, but it's in good original condition and you can see the quality of these compared with the post CBS basses.

It comes with the original covers and case (pictured). The covers are great, screws still in the cavities, but the case has seen better days.

I purchased this from reputable vintage guitar dealer David J Pym, who has done the due diligence, purchasing it from the original owner. I am certain will remember and vouch for the guitar, supporting everything that I have said, and I'm happy to pass on contact details or manage an introduction.

The price is [s]£6,495[/s] £5750 and I have based this on some of the prices in London (taking a whack off because I'm down in the countryside).

If you're interested, there's always a deal to be done, but unless you have any all original vintage Fender basses I'm not really interested in a trade.

The bass is located in sunny Bristol and I'd prefer cash (well, bank transfer) on collection. I am happy to welcome you to come and give it a play, I'm certain you will fall in love with it.

I'm not really interested in sending it, for the main reason that I have no idea how on earth I could insure something like this. If you want it, one and play it and I'll knock off the costs of travel and accommodation from the guitar.

I have taken some pictures here and can take more should you want them. I'd prefer not to get the screwdrivers out and take it to bits, but more than happy to do so if you would like me to.

Neck date, pots, and all other bits coming a little later today when I get the time to take it apart.

Bump for price drop to £5750.

Some feedback I have had from dealers is that this is a fairer price. Hope you feel the same way too!

In terms of trades I could accept a Wal; vintage all original Fender Precision, Jazz or Telecaster Bass; or possibly even a DB.

Feel free to send me a PM if you need more information.

Stunning!!
You're right about shipping: such an instrument must be played before being bought.
I always want to try and see a vintage bass before buying it, to check things as much as possible.
I don't know how it can be other way... plus the insurance thing... only professionals can send such valuable instruments.
Back to the bass, here just with the pictures I can see this is a lovely bass, no comparison between pre-CBS and after... seriously !!
