Looks like thumb prices are on the rise again... :-)

Recommended Posts

You know at the bottom where it gives the opportunity to ask a question? Somebody should ask what planet he was born on if he thinks he's going to get this sort of money....

A brand new one is less than half price

I did email him trying to be helpful - apparently that makes me a troll... I pointed out that this one was not going to move anytime soon either ... http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/2005-Rickenbacker-rare-limited-edition-Blue-Boy-4003-bass-guitar-/162529890110

£9999 is about £9000 too expensive for a second hand Thumb mate. Not sure where you got your pricing from. I'm interested to find out if you're willing to tell me.

Regards,

Dear aleshiel,

I'm interested to know where you learnt your manners haha, and if you think a thumb only cost £999 youre value for true German craftsmanship and the love of the bass is pathetic. It's like Paul Reed Smith says, luxury ain't cheap. You wouldn't expect to get a Lamborghini for cheap so why expect to get a really nice, beautiful and epic sounding instrument for cheap.

Value is what you believe something is worth, now I'm willing to take acceptable offers but those appear to be to high for most which you would expect as it is a luxury instrument. Now if someone sells there's for less than it's true value that's up to them, but if you take a look at music stores right now thumbs sell new for £4000+, so even if you halved the true value of the bass it would be 2000, and I think you'll find most the thumbs on eBay are listed at around 2000. They don't sell often because most people can't justify going from there squier to a Warwick financially. They don't see the value in luxury and its the same reason they wear clothes from tk maxx and not from Gucci. I had the bass listed at £2000 for a while and it generated no interest, but at this inflated price much more interest has come from it. So don't be to hurt by the high price, it's not killing anyone.

If you think a £1500 bass is worth £10k you're frankly delusional... If you're right you'll sell it quickly, if I'm right then you won't... There are enough Thumb NT's being sold for there to be a good data on the market price... I'm hardly trolling if I'm doing it privately on email.. I provide you with recent proof of what a virtually identical bass sold for and he had it on sale for quite some time at only a few hundred pounds more...

As I said good luck with the sale.. The £10k 4003 has not moved at all either :-)

Not that interested, was trying to be helpful... The Thumb 5's have too much neck dive for me - much prefer my Dingwall Z3 and Laklands...

As I said good luck with the sale...

Hi,

Did you really mean to start this at just under ten grand?

If you did, good luck :-) These go for around £1400-£1600.

I would think, reasonably, a 5 string NT Thumb, maybe £1500. Maybe he'll get a pal to pretend to buy it so he can say I told you so.
Anyway, he's messin' with the combined might of the basschatters here... never seen everyone agree on something before.

... and who the hell is Bass Jesus? Can I get one of his albums?

It's youth, it works and is in good shape. Alot for less are older by a good decade, or are bolt-on or the newer not German built ones. Plus considering today's value of these German built new being £4000+, 2k isn't a bad price plus I'm not in a rush to sell it so will to wait for it to go for the right price.
