The Yamaha BB mega-thread

@gobasserk I usually love your recordings and I'm also a big fan of some Tech 21 pedals (e.g. the VTDI). But honestly? I love the clean sound of your basses waaaaaaay more than with your DP-3X. YMMV etc.

By way of comparison - these two clips with and without the Tech 21 YYZ were both great!

So here's a quick and dirty recording of the same lick with the BB1000MA in P mode with and without the YYZ

BB1000MA P mode with YYZ pedal

Randomly messing around with my multi effects unit and chanced on the discovery that the way to get some real character out of the 424's neck pickup is to play it through....

....a mid-60s Fender Twin Reverb. Huh. So if any bassists have one of those lying around....

So I should probably update this with the gig experience from Satdy...took the 414 and one of my Shukers as backup. The Shuker stayed in its case...tho that was partly due to the, ummmm, liveliness of the venue (yeah, one of those gigs...), but I was very, very pleased with the results of a low-cost pimping. That bridge is super-comfy under the heel of the right hand, and the sound was bob on...the weight was fine, too...

Here you go, let's save you a bit of time...I've linked to my post with a clip of the actual bass you were asking about embedded. Health warning: it weighs more than most minor planets...
